  • Dhaniya seeds- 4 cups/ measure
  • 3/4 heaped-Tuwar Dal
  • 3/4 cup level -Chana Dal
  • 1/2 cup- Black whole pepper
  • 1/2 cup Jeera
  • 1tsp mustard seeds
  • 1tsp methi seeds
  • Turmeric powder- as required, used later
  • Chilly powder- as required, based on the measure of the above...

  • Take a large wok,
  •  heat and add mustard seeds and methi seeds, 
  • then add all the ingredients one by one and dry roast for a bit- don't brown or blacken, 
  • just roast for easy grinding- no oil added
  • After cooling, grind in a mixie to a smooth texture.
  • Mix 3 portions of this powder with 1 portion of chilly powder and a tsp of turmeric powder.
